The photos feature the North Topeka business district, now NOTO Arts District, that she took when she first moved here, 9 years ago. She will be displaying and selling her work at Kaw River Mercantile&#8217;s new Photographer&#8217;s Gallery. The &#8220;barebones&#8221; Photographer&#8217;s Gallery showing we held in April was extremely well received so we&#8217;ll be working fast and furious to get the Photographer&#8217;s Gallery fully operational. So far we have five interesting and diverse photographers committed to displaying in the Gallery. Nothing could be more beautiful than sunlight glowing through the hand painted and water cut glass creations designed by artist Joan Baker. Enjoy!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Learn about gouache,   an opaque watercolor paint, which is more controllable than transparent watercolor .  Dating back to before the Renaissance, it is a paint used by many designers, illustrators and commercial artists. Usually painted on various papers, it is particularly suited to small paintings. In this class, we will create at least one small painting of an animal.  (Instructor will provide reference material).</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Students will learn the basics of creating jewelry with sheet metal.  We will do a project the first few classes that involves sawing, sanding, filing, soldering, and setting a stone.  When that project is complete, students will be able to choose additional projects.  Things like rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, and small sculpture are all options to explore.
