Students will work with clay slabs to create suns with a face and sun rays. These will look great in your garden! Projects will be able to be picked up 2 weeks after they are created.

Classes
The NOTO Arts District is pleased to announce the beginning of fall classes in the NOTO Community Arts Center, 922 North Kansas Avenue.
Future classes include a Plein Air Workshop for high school students led by well-known artists, Cally Krallman and Kim Casebeer. For more information on classes, or to inquire about teaching classes, please contact us.

Want to learn a fun and cheap way to make your own sculptures that dry hard as wood? Then gather ’round as we make papier maché out of common, nontoxic products you might have around the house.

Ceramic tiles and dishes are weatherproof. Paired with the right stuff, they can make beautiful and durable outdoor art. You can choose to decorate a stepping stone, plant holder or ball for your yard or garden with ceramic pieces and waterproof grout.
3rd-8th grade

Learn the basics of broken tile/ceramic mosaics from creating a design to grouting and polishing the finished product. All materials will be furnished, but feel free to bring your own cherished pieces — broken dishes or other non-porous items — if you would like to incorporate them in your artwork. Class size limited to 16 students.

Students will experience exercises to expand their success with drawing. Emphasis will be placed on establishing good eye/hand coordination through gesture and blind contour drawing. We will be using recycled containers to create a miniature eco-system and while exploring the importance of Earth Day.
