Beginner or Intermediate students will learn the fundamentals of acrylic painting and landscape art. Each student completes at least one 11 x 14 canvas board painting. This 2hr class meets: Feb 27th, March 5th, March 12th and March 19th. Classes held at NOTO.

This three day workshop will give you a quick introduction to metalsmithing. You’ll learn to saw, file, sand, and solder. Students will make a sterling silver pendant with a bezel set stone. (includes one square inch of silver. Can buy more if you want a larger project.) Must enroll by March 10th.

This class covers basic Tie-Dye folds and clamping techniques which can create a variety of shapes and textures. Tie-Dye has been used for over 2,000 years in China and Japan. You will create several pieces of Tie-Dye in this class that you can wear or display as a piece of art.

Learn the basics of broken tile/ceramic mosaics from creating a design to grouting and polishing the finished product. All materials will be furnished, but feel free to bring your own cherished pieces — broken dishes or other non-porous items — if you would like to incorporate them in your artwork. Class size limited to 16 students.

March 27, April 3 & 10, 5:30 to 7 pm.
Students will experience exercises to expand their success with drawing. Emphasis will be placed on establishing good eye/hand coordination through gesture and blind contour drawing. Shibori is a Japanese term for methods of dyeing cloth by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, and compressing. In Japan, the earliest known example of cloth dyed with the Shibori technique dates back to the 8th century. In this class you will learn some of the most popular Shibori techniques including Arashi, Kumo, and Itajime.
